Our Board members are leaders from the fields of science, technology, publishing, health and medicine, entrepreneurship, data analysis, and governance. Their years of experience provide the perspective, knowledge , wisdom, and strategic vision of the future that helps keep the business growing and evolving.
Michael Gleason is the founder and CEO of Newport Beach, CA-based Consumer Brands LLC, and its subsidiary Healthcare Brands, LLC. Consumer Brands is best known for its category-leading website, InMyArea.com – an online comparative shopping platform for home services – and its network of disease- and condition specific websites like Anxiety.org, Depression.org, and Dementia.org. After receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees from MIT and UCLA, Mike founded and sold two technology companies. Prior to that he worked for both a U.S. Senator and the White House on science, technology, and educational funding. As CEO, Mike also serves on the company’s Board of Managers.
William Topaz is the President, Publishing and Editor-in-Chief of the company. Bill received his degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. Before joining Consumer Brands, he served as President of a 501c3 non-profit organization. Prior to that, he was an executive with public companies such as Disney, Times-Mirror, and RR Donnelley. His other roles include, but are not limited to, supervising legal and financial administration for the company.
Rob is a seasoned entrepreneur with over twenty five years of experience and has been involved in several successful startups. Rob currently serves on the board of several privately-held companies, including Consumer Brands, LLC, C2-Imaging, PropertyRate and The Bromwell Company. Prior to Black Diamond Ventures, Rob founded Overnite Express, the premier west coast overnight delivery company competing with FedEx and UPS serving California, Arizona and Nevada—which was successfully sold to Norco Corp. in 2008. Rob is a graduate of the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business.
Alexander Bystritsky, M.D., Ph.D. acts as the Advisory Board Chairman of Healthcare Brands. He has been Faculty at the University of California Los Angeles since 1987 where he is currently a Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Anxiety Disorders Program and the Saban Anxiety Treatment Evaluation Program. He was the recipient of the OCD Foundation Research Award and has been listed in the Best Doctors in America for the past 12 years. While serving as a Visiting Full Professor at the Harvard University School of Medicine investigating Focused Ultrasound Pulsation effects on brain using fMRI, he was awarded the NARSAD Distinguished Investigator Award.
Newport Beach Mayor Kevin Muldoon was elected to the City Council in 2014 as the District 4 representative. Raised in Orange County, Kevin received his Juris Doctor from Chapman University School of Law and Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola Marymount University, where he was awarded the Dr. Singleton Award for Excellence in Economics. In 2006, Mr. Muldoon worked for President George W. Bush in the White House Office of Strategic Initiatives. He returned from Washington to be admitted to The State Bar of California and practice law as a Deputy District Attorney in the Orange County District Attorney’s office. Currently, he is vice-president and corporate counsel for a local technology company.
Douglas Twisselmann is a Senior Data Scientist in the Science and Algorithms group at Netflix. In this role, he helps Netflix tackle the challenge of optimizing the TV and movie libraries by innovating mathematical models via the ever-growing cache of streaming data. Doug received his B.S. in Chemistry – Materials Science at UCLA and his Ph.D.in Materials at MIT.

Tyler Hanway is Consumer Brands’ Chief Technology Officer as well as a co-Founder of the company. He focuses on high-level policy, technology and computational scientific issues for the company as well as aggregating millions of data points, developing new functionality, and optimizing the infrastructure and performance of servers to insure the maximum experience for visitors to the company’s portfolio of consumer and healthcare websites.
William “BJ” Donovan serves Consumer Brands, LLC as Chief Revenue Officer and also as President of its Consumer division, which includes InMyArea.com. Previous experience includes management positions with SRC, Etraffix, and Alorad, Inc
As Consumer Brands' Vice President of Web Development, David Cosseboom’s duties include making the company's marketing and creative vision into an online reality. He graduated from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln with a degree in computer science. Before joining Consumer Brands, David worked at the Lincoln Journal Star and Alorad, Inc.
As the Creative Director for Consumer Brands, Michael Brock leads the team's brand strategy and product design for the company‘s many properties and partnerships. He oversees the creative process and insures the optimum user experience for website visitors. He graduated from California State University – Fullerton with a degree in communications. Before joining Consumer Brands, Michael was with Blitz Agency and Mobovida.
Christina Lo is the company's Strategic Business Analyst. He area of responsibility is to bring wisdom to all the data incoming to the company - handling, streamlining, reconciling, and reporting on terabytes of sales and financial data. Christina has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California – San Diego. Prior to joining Consumer Brands, Christina was involved in the healthcare industry.
Jason Barrett is Consumer Brands’ Director of Sales. He has over a decade of sales experience with companies like Clearlink Technologies, another provider of home services. Jason’s duties include recruiting new customer service and sales associates, employee retention and general supervision, managing the Contact Center, overseeing compliance, and providing on-going training to the staff.
Sean Brooks is the company’s Marketing Director. Sean's charge is the execution and management of the company's marketing efforts. These include traffic building, social media, brand awareness, reputation management, and analytics reporting. Sean is a graduate of San Diego State University.
As the Sales Operations Manager for Consumer Brands, Justin Lawrence manages the company's customer service team ensuring customers receive accurate information and a quality shopping experience. Justin proudly served in the United States Navy before joining Consumer Brands. He completed two deployments to the Persian Gulf, and received a letter of commendation from Vice Admiral Mike Shoemaker, currently Commander, Naval Air Force, US Pacific Fleet.
